Whilst at university studying for my undergraduate degree, I explored the use of form, medium and colour within my practice. I primarily used oil paints and added mediums such as linseed stand oil to develop the way in which I used paint and play with the tension of the surface. The medium is an important aspect of my work, one which not only reflects the appearance but also the subject in this case; reflections. By using foil, I looked at the way in which the environment is captured through reflections of light and colour. This method led to my paintings becoming more abstract.
Looking at movement within the landscape I used foil to try and capture this. It contained the light and colour of its surroundings, reflecting its environment without depicting a literal landscape. The unseen is something which I have always been interested in conveying within my work; a sense of movement and feeling.
